Moors and Christians
The encounter at the Castle is central as is the parade where the Moors and Christian legions converge. In this festival there is a major influence from the town of Alcoy, where this festival has been declared as an international interest.
In early October another striking and colorful festival is the Moors and Christians. In recent tradition, this celebration is similar the many that take place in the regions and is based on the history of Hispanic settlement linked to the Arabs. Benidorm though has wanted to change the focus more in accordance to the twenty-first century and show more of a more pacifist angle to commemorate, eliminating the battles and giving prominence to cordial agreements between both sides.
