Benidorm completes its EU Green Week programme this week, an environmental awareness initiative held under the slogan “The environment belongs to everyone”. The activities invite schoolchildren, residents and visitors to discover, protect and value the city’s green areas and natural resources.
Following the success of the II Recycling Festival, the programme continues with activities in different parts of Benidorm, including El Moralet, Foietes and Séquia Mare parks, as well as the l’Infern quarry-ravine area on Oslo Street.
From Monday to Thursday, from 9:30 a.m., workshops mainly aimed at schoolchildren focus on caring for green areas, biodiversity and soil protection. Activities include seed bomb workshops, shredding and reusing plant waste, soil protection sessions and biodiversity activities in the city’s parks.
On Thursday 4, at 10:00 a.m., El Moralet Park will host a beekeeping talk and workshop, an educational activity designed to explain the essential role of bees and the importance of preserving biodiversity. Later that day, at 1:00 p.m., residents and visitors can join a walk and clean-up activity in the same park.
The programme will conclude on Friday 5 with two main activities. At 9:30 a.m., the Dinapsis by Veolia innovation centre will host the forum “Climate Change and Water: Challenges and Solutions for the Future”, a meeting focused on water management and climate-related challenges.
Also on Friday, from 10:00 a.m., a participatory environmental activity will take place in the l’Infern quarry-ravine area on Oslo Street. The session will include a clean-up, tree planting, installation of nesting boxes and an educational visit to discover the natural value of this area.
Benidorm’s EU Green Week is a chance to experience the city from a sustainable perspective, take part in environmental actions and help preserve its parks, green areas and natural spaces for the future.
