Callosa d´En Sarriá

The rich landscape of Algar

Just 12 kilomtres from Benidorm, lying in the perpetual green  valleys of Algar and Guadalest rivers and surrounded by the high mountains of Aitana (1,558 m.), Serrella (1,360 m.),Ponotx (1,100 m.) and Bernie (1,128 m.), is located Callosa d'En Sarria,  old Muslim farmstead that became head of the manor that dominated most of the district of Marina Baixa.

Callosa has a reputation for the excellent fruit production of its orchards, highlighting the golden treasure of the loquat or medlar fruit plantations, now marketed internationally and experiences a rich cultural life that has made possible the recovery of its past in an interestinganthropological museum.

But among all the attractions of Callosa d'En Sarria, the most noteworthy is surely that of the rich natural landscape area known as Las Fuentes del Algar (Algar waterfalls), for its beauty at every corner, has been called "Font de Fonts" (waterfall of waterfalls) as many of the small springs convert to a beautiful set of small  waterfalls and small pools where the water shines as it  fiercely runs between vegetation, for a viewing  of exceptional quality.

In the area of Algar,  restaurants and picnic areas provide the opportunity to sample the local cuisine of the area care while municipal camping area enables a longer stay for those who prefer to enjoy such a unique environment for longer than a day trip.

There is an interesting area dedicated to the conservation of the local flora including most of the aromatic plants, as well as an interesting environmental museum, where as well as exhibiting herbs and essences, the investigation of  the production of aromatic oils or “in vitro” fertilization of plants take place

Other attractions of this "Font de Fonts" include  the chances of perfectly defined hiking trails or horseback riding through the mountains, discovering places of great natural wealth.
