Visitors to Benidorm can explore the roots of the city’s history through the new exhibition “The Carta de Poblament of Benidorm (1325) Through Documents”, now open at the Museu Boca del Calvari. Curated by Professor Rafael Alemany Ferrer, the exhibition offers a deep dive into the foundational document of the town, tracing its evolution through preserved historical materials. It will be open to the public until October 9 in the Luis Duart i Alabarta Room of the museum.
The exhibition features unique reproductions, translations, and editions of the Carta de Poblament, alongside a tribute to the scholars and citizens who contributed to its preservation over the centuries.
In conjunction with the exhibition, visitors can also enjoy a rich cultural program:
May 6–11: Conferences and dramatic reenactments organized by CEFIRE, exploring the historical context of the Carta.
May 8: Commemorative activities for Benidorm Day, including the launch of an official postage stamp and a theatrical performance “Pudo Suceder” at the Casa del Fester Diego Cano Enguera (8:30 PM).
May 10: Dramatic performance of the Carta de Poblament in Plaça de Sant Jaume (9:30 PM), accompanied by medieval music.
May 11: Concert by the Societat Musical l’Illa de Benidorm at the Centro Cultural Auditorium (7:00 PM).
May 18: Concert by Capella de Ministrers at the Church of Sant Jaume i Santa Anna (8:00 PM).
These events offer a unique opportunity for tourists to connect with Benidorm's rich heritage through music, drama, and historical exploration in some of the town’s most emblematic venues.
