The museum stands on the site of Benidorm’s first town hall, donated by Gaspar Ortuño Orts in 1916.
In 2012, the original building was demolished to make way for a striking modern structure, featuring a fully glazed ground floor and a €1.6 million investment.

Contemporary art meets local history in a dynamic programme of temporary exhibitions built around two key themes:
Renowned artists: Martin Parr, Óscar Tusquets, Cristina de Middel, Ferran Freixa, Rosalía Banet, Olga Diego.
Historical themes: Julio Guillén Tato, Francisco “Quico” Pérez Bayona, and the legendary Benidorm International Song Festival (1959–2006).
Opened in July 2024, this permanent exhibition space pays tribute to Lluís Duart, parish priest and historian of Benidorm.
It features over 500 restored pieces spanning from the Neolithic era to the 20th century:
