New Lifting Hoists at Benidorm’s Accessible Beaches to Improve Sea Access for People with Reduced Mobility

Benidorm enhances beach accessibility with new equipment for safer, easier bathing.

New Lifting Hoists at Benidorm’s Accessible Beaches to Improve Sea Access for People with Reduced Mobility

Benidorm has expanded its Accessible Beaches service by adding two new hoists at Poniente (Parque de Elche) and La Cala, complementing the system installed last summer at Levante Beach. These devices allow for smoother and safer transfers from wheelchairs to amphibious chairs, making access to the sea easier and more comfortable for people with reduced mobility.

The hoists improve efficiency, requiring fewer staff and minimizing strain on users. Additionally, this summer the Parque de Elche point features new seating areas in the water and handrails, allowing for safer and more independent access to the sea.

Since 2000, Benidorm’s Accessible Beaches service has been a benchmark in inclusive tourism, offering:

  • Ramps and pathways to the sea

  • Adapted showers and toilets

  • Shaded rest areas and windbreaks

  • Amphibious chairs and crutches

  • Trained lifeguards for assistance

  • Designated bathing zones and free WIFI

In 2024, more than 18,500 people used this service—proof of Benidorm’s dedication to inclusive beach enjoyment.
