Benidorm is stepping up efforts to ensure safer coexistence between pedestrians and electric scooter users by reinforcing signage and police monitoring in high-traffic pedestrian zones. The updated signage highlights the prohibition of scooter circulation in designated pedestrian areas, especially in key tourist locations like the Old Town and Levante Promenade.
Starting this week, local police are intensifying patrols and checks to ensure compliance with safety regulations, including helmet use and mandatory civil liability insurance for scooter riders. These actions aim to minimize conflicts on the streets and protect the most vulnerable users—pedestrians.
This second phase of the signage campaign builds on a first stage launched in November, targeting areas where rule-breaking was more frequent. The focus now expands to strategic and heavily visited zones across Benidorm.
These initiatives contribute to making Benidorm safer and more enjoyable for visitors exploring the city on foot.
