Benidorm Adds New Inclusive Classroom for Students with Special Needs

Benidorm Adds New Inclusive Classroom for Students with Special Needs

The new unit will be located at Gabriel Miró School, joining existing classrooms in other schools across the city

Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, Benidorm’s public education system will include a new UECO classroom (Special Education Unit in an Ordinary School) to support students with special educational needs in Infant and Primary Education.

This classroom will be based at Gabriel Miró Public School, located in the Salt de l’Aigua educational complex, and will join the existing units at El Murtal, Mestre Gaspar López, Ausiàs March, and IES Mediterrània. Altogether, Benidorm will now have four inclusive classrooms in Infant and Primary schools and one in Secondary education.

UECO classrooms are designed for students with intellectual or motor disabilities or developmental disorders, providing them with tailored support in regular schools. Their aim is to promote integration and equal opportunities, ensuring that every student can continue their education in inclusive conditions.

With this new addition, Benidorm strengthens its commitment to inclusive and accessible education, offering more resources for local families and long-term residents who choose the city as their home.
