Benidorm has drastically reduced traffic noise, according to its latest noise map. Back in 2019, about 4.7% of the population was exposed to high daytime noise levels. Now, it's just 0.1%. And at night, there’s no more high-level noise at all — great news for better sleep and a more peaceful city!
This has been achieved through several improvements that make walking, cycling, and public transport easier and safer:
Speed limits in many streets have been reduced to 30 km/h.
More pedestrian-only areas have been added.
Bike lanes have been improved.
The AP‑7 motorway is now toll-free.
Traffic flow has been optimized.
Soon, smart bike parking stations will be installed, and key roads like Severo Ochoa Avenue and the route to El Albir are being upgraded.
Also, from 16 to 22 September, Benidorm will host European Mobility Week — a great chance to explore the city in a greener, more enjoyable way.
