Benidorm’s Els Tolls neighbourhood is now home to a new Municipal Social Mediation Centre, a space designed to bring public services closer to residents. In its first six months, this new centre has already received 33 mediation requests from individuals and businesses seeking to resolve disputes without going to court.
The mediation service is free of charge and offers legal support to help parties reach agreements in conflicts such as parenting arrangements, rental disputes, community disagreements, or construction-related issues. Out of eight completed mediations, half were resolved successfully, avoiding legal proceedings.
Located in the heart of Els Tolls, the centre offers a welcoming and private environment for those in need. In addition to mediation services, the facility functions as a community social centre, offering support programmes for the LGBTIQ+ community, Roma population, and more. It houses a dedicated team including social workers, a psychologist, an integration technician, an equality officer, and other support staff.
This initiative is part of a broader urban renewal project that has transformed the area with improved public services and infrastructure, ensuring residents no longer need to travel far to access essential help.
