Environmental Cleanup in Benidorm’s Coves for Serra Gelada Natural Park Anniversary

This week, Benidorm hosted a major land and sea cleanup day at l’Almadrava and Ti Ximo coves as part of the 20th anniversary celebration of Serra Gelada Natural Park. Over 130 participants, including school students, volunteers, and environmental professionals, took part in this effort, which resulted in the removal of several dozen kilos of waste—mainly packaging—and 180 kilos of invasive exotic plants.

The operation combined land-based and marine efforts, with support from divers, paddle boarders, local police, Red Cross, environmental groups, and educational centers. The event stood out for its strong community involvement and its direct contribution to protecting Benidorm’s natural environment.

Additionally, the anniversary program featured educational workshops and a specialist talk focused on marine biodiversity and the Natura 2000 network, offering tools to help convey its importance to tourists and visitors.
