Benidorm Open Arena: A New Cultural and Youth Hub to Transform the Bullring Area

Benidorm Open Arena: A New Cultural and Youth Hub to Transform the Bullring Area

Benidorm secures €6.4 million in European funding to transform its historic bullring into a vibrant year-round cultural and sports space, including a new youth center and improved urban connections.

The city of Benidorm will soon begin the transformation of its iconic bullring area into the Benidorm Open Arena, thanks to €6.4 million in EU funding. The project, with a total budget of over €10.7 million, will breathe new life into this 18,000 m² urban space through three major developments: Arena Live, Arena Joven, and Arena Encuentro.

The centerpiece, Arena Live, will convert the bullring into a multifunctional venue for cultural, social, and sporting events — expanding the city's offering of open-air entertainment and sustainable leisure throughout the year.

Next to it, Arena Joven will establish a dynamic, inclusive youth center, designed as a multicultural space for learning, creativity, and community engagement. Features include coworking areas equipped with tech resources for young people to innovate and collaborate.

Arena Encuentro will focus on urban regeneration, enhancing walkability and accessibility between Els Tolls, l’Aigüera Park, and surrounding neighborhoods. Key improvements include a new public elevator and green areas with resting spaces to encourage community gathering.

With completion expected by 2029, Benidorm Open Arena promises to revitalize the area, creating a modern public hub that blends culture, youth activity, and urban connectivity — a must-see destination for both visitors and locals.
