Anémona’s rowers complete a 1,600 km challenge ending in Iria Flavia

An extraordinary adventure of determination and unity has just concluded as 25 rowers from Anémona Benidorm completed an epic 1,600-kilometre rowing journey that ended in Iria Flavia (Galicia), right at the foot of the iconic Santiago de Padrón church.

The challenge began on September 9th on rowing machines at Benidorm’s Yacht Club, and concluded on Saturday, October 11th, with a deeply emotional final 30-kilometre stage across the Arousa estuary. Their route passed through beautiful spots such as Cabo da Cruz, Retorta Beach, Conchas Beach, Catoira and Vilarello, finally reaching Iria Flavia after more than eight hours of rowing.

Among the group were 15 women who have faced breast cancer, supported by fellow rowers and Galician women from the Cabo da Cruz Rowing Club. Together, they carried a powerful message of strength, health, and sisterhood from the shores of Benidorm to the heart of Galicia.

This feat was not only a physical challenge, but also a symbolic journey that strengthens Benidorm’s image as a destination committed to wellbeing, active tourism, and community spirit. A moving and inspirational story that leaves a lasting impression.
