Benidorm Turns Pink in Support of the Fight Against Breast Cancer
Benidorm once again joins the global commemoration of Breast Cancer Awareness Day with a full calendar of events inviting both locals and tourists to participate and show support for those affected by the disease.
The pink ribbon now adorning the gardens of Benidorm’s Town Hall marks the beginning of a series of actions organized by Anémona Marina Baixa, in collaboration with local community groups. Events include information stands, awareness campaigns, bone density screening appointments, and a variety of sports and leisure activities for all ages.
A key highlight will be the 23rd Anémona Solidarity March on Sunday, October 26, where the streets of Benidorm will be filled with white—the color of this year’s commemorative t-shirts. The march begins at 10:00 AM from the Town Hall and will pass through major tourist streets including Passeig de la Carretera, Parque de Elche, and Avenida Armada Española, ending at Plaza de SS. MM. los Reyes de España. There, participants can enjoy aerobic and fitness sessions, rice tastings donated by local hotels, and a solidarity food and drink stand.
On Sunday, October 19, Benidorm’s bay will host a rowing competition as part of the SUMA League, followed by a public reading of a special awareness manifesto and a winning short story written by local students.
Commemorative t-shirts can be purchased at Anémona’s headquarters on La Biga Street, in participating shops, at the information stands, or on the day of the event. All proceeds will go toward therapeutic activities and funding breast cancer research projects.
The program concludes with the 2nd Anémona Congress on November 28–29, under the theme “Let’s Talk About Cancer... Without Fear”.
