Attendees are exploring how Benidorm has evolved into a more environmentally respectful urban destination through initiatives such as efficient water management, data-driven tourism decisions, sustainable mobility strategies, and accessibility measures.
The programme also includes visits to iconic spots like the Serra Gelada Natural Park, panoramic viewpoints, and other areas that showcase the balance between urban growth and natural preservation.
This summit is part of the city’s ongoing activities tied to its EU Green Pioneer recognition, which celebrates destinations that reduce tourism’s environmental impact while enhancing the experience for both visitors and locals.
Participating cities include Ravenna, Karlsruhe, Liepāja, Grosseto, Breda, Ljubljana, Helsinki, Seville, Panevėžys, Valongo, and Dublin — all of which have previously been recognised by the European Commission for excellence in sustainable tourism practices.
Benidorm strengthens its position as a European benchmark for sustainable tourism, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange with other leading destinations across the continent.
