Benidorm earns the Green Flag once again for its commitment to glass recycling

Benidorm has once again been honoured for its environmental commitment by receiving the Green Flag from Ecovidrio for the fifth consecutive year — an award that recognises top tourist destinations for their glass recycling and climate action efforts.

Between June and August 2025, the city recycled an impressive 1,248,620 kilograms of glass, marking a 9.8% increase compared to the previous year. This achievement was made possible through the participation of over 300 hospitality establishments and the strong support from both residents and visitors.

Benidorm has become the leading municipality in the Valencian Region for glass recycling during the summer campaign, setting an example of sustainability within the tourism industry.

In addition to receiving a score of 3,353 points, the city will benefit from a natural area clean-up action coordinated with the organisation Paisaje Limpio — another step toward strengthening Benidorm’s position as a responsible and environmentally friendly destination.

Thanks to this collective effort, the city has prevented the emission of 724 tonnes of CO₂, contributing to a greener and more sustainable model of tourism.
