Benidorm commemorates the 'Day of Valencian Letters' with a reading of its founding charter

📍 Parc de Foietes | 📅 November 20, 2025

Benidorm marked the Day of Valencian Letters with a public reading focused on two key local literary works: the Carta de Poblament, the town’s founding charter from 1325, and ‘De la Cala al Racó’, a poetry collection by local author Pep ‘El Carreró’.

Held at the Parc de Foietes, the event brought together local students from IES Mediterrània, who participated in the readings, celebrating 700 years of Benidorm’s history through literature. The chosen poems reflect the town’s essence, highlighting places like Les Penyes, L’Illa, El Puig Campana, and l'Almadrava.

This annual celebration commemorates the first edition of Tirant lo Blanc (1490), a cornerstone of Valencian literature. The activity included a reading animation session led by Eva Andújar, encouraging young people to engage with the Valencian language and Benidorm’s literary heritage.
