Benidorm Half Marathon Breaks Participation and Performance Records

Benidorm once again became a vibrant hub for sports lovers this Saturday with the celebration of the Benidorm Half Marathon. This year's edition smashed previous records, gathering an impressive 9,132 registered runners between the 10K and 21K events — a significant leap from last year's 6,500 participants.

Beyond the numbers, the race also delivered outstanding performances. New race records were set in the women’s 10K and 21K, as well as in the men’s 21K, making this edition one of the most exciting in its history. Despite the cold weather, the event drew thousands to the streets, celebrating sport and international camaraderie.

In the 21K race, British runners Ben Connor and Lily Partridge claimed victory, with Connor setting a new record time of 1:03:51. The 10K winners were fellow Brit Harry Johnson with a time of 30:38, and Alondra Negrón from Puerto Rico, who not only won but also set a national record with her time of 33:13.

Runners from 37 countries participated, with a remarkable 50.5% of them coming from abroad. The UK led the international turnout with 4,043 runners, followed by Spain with 4,516. Other countries represented included Ireland, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, Italy, Germany, France, and Sweden.

Benidorm’s scenic urban course and lively atmosphere continue to attract more athletes each year, turning this annual race into a must-attend event for runners and sports enthusiasts from around the world.
