Every April 11, the World Parkinson's Day is observed, marking the anniversary of the birth of James Parkinson, the British doctor who first described the disease in 1817.
In Benidorm, the day was marked by a symbolic gathering at Plaza de SSMM Reyes de España, where local representatives joined members of APARME to raise awareness and show support for those affected.
In Spain, more than 160,000 people are living with Parkinson’s disease, while globally the number exceeds 6 million. Around 15% of cases in Spain affect people under the age of 50.
