On 23 April, Contalles joins the Sant Jordi celebrations with a programme designed for everyone who enjoys literature in a warm and friendly setting. Throughout the day, visitors and locals will be able to enjoy books, roses, guest authors, special discounts and small surprises marking one of the most beloved dates in the literary calendar.
At 11:00 am, visitors will have the chance to meet several of the day’s featured guests. Mary Luz Macías will be signing copies of Los dones espirituales y el llamado profético, a guide exploring spiritual gifts and the prophetic ministry from a biblical, pastoral and contemporary perspective.
Also at 11:00 am, Eugenia de Alba will be at Contalles as the illustrator of Vida de gato, an illustrated album that explores school bullying through an intimate and empathetic lens. Narrated by Ron, an observant and loyal cat, the story follows Elena through a difficult time and highlights the importance of listening, offering support and asking for help.
At the same time, Claudio H. will be signing copies of Amores, desamores, tribulaciones y desvaríos, his first poetry collection. It is an intimate and elegant book, with verses that invite reflection and move through emotions, questions and silences with great sensitivity.
Later in the day, from 6:00 pm, María Eguía will be signing El laberinto y el ovillo, a suspense novel that blends mystery, family secrets, mythology, art, travel and a love story. Her previous novels, La danza del pulpo and El retrato de Clara, will also be available.
Also from 6:00 pm, visitors will be able to meet M.ª Ángeles Vergara, who will be signing copies of Ella me quiso a mí, an intimate and emotional novel that pays tribute to women of earlier generations: intelligent, educated and capable, yet often forced to adapt to limiting circumstances.
The literary programme also includes En el nombre del fuego, a fast-paced thriller set in Benidorm, which readers will be able to discuss with its author, Myriam I. Medio, at an upcoming reading club session.
Sant Jordi at Contalles is a great opportunity to discover new books, meet their creators and enjoy a cultural experience that is especially appealing for anyone visiting Benidorm in spring.
