Calle Londres will undergo a comprehensive renovation after insufficient ground compaction was detected during the installation of new stormwater pipes. This situation caused sections of the road surface to collapse during excavation works, leading to the decision to extend the initially planned project.
The works will affect the stretch between Calle Estocolmo and Calle Montecarlo, which has been closed to traffic since 29 April. Although the original plan was to install a stormwater collector with its corresponding drains, the project will now also include the renewal of the sewer system, drinking water network and other underground utilities.
The aim is to leave the street in optimal condition, with properly compacted ground and fully upgraded infrastructure. Due to this unforeseen situation, the works will take longer than initially expected, and Calle Londres is likely to remain closed during the summer.
Meanwhile, the renovation of water infrastructure on Avenida Montecarlo continues to progress. This project includes improvements to drinking water, sewerage and stormwater networks, as well as new lighting, paving, road markings, landscaping and trees, together with the addition of a reclaimed water network.
Residents and visitors are advised to take the traffic restrictions in the area into account and follow the temporary signage in place while the works are ongoing.
