Benidorm is the leading tourist destination in the Mediterranean.
The management and promotion of tourism in Benidorm was originally the responsibility of the Town Hall, but now adapts to a new model of sustainable tourism management with involvement not only from the Spanish administration, but also from the private sector.
In 2010 the Benidorm Tourism Foundation was founded, better known by its commercial name "Visit Benidorm" a public-private partnership that can respond to rapid changes in the tourism industry in an efficient and flexible manner.
It is a non-profit entity under the tutelage of the Protectorate of the Generalitat Valencianathrough its competent authority.
The governing body is the Foundation Board, the supreme body of the Foundation.
The Board is composed of the three Founding Patrons, Institutional and collaborating Partners & patrons.
The Chairman of the Board corresponds to the mayor of Benidorm.
Visit Benidorm's role is to lead and coordinate activities within a RETO tourism strategy that serves the interests of all stakeholders. Effective destination management allows the destination to guarantee local benefits and the sustainability of the model, while maximising the tourism value for its visitors.
The competitiveness of tourism is very high and the entities that make up VisitBenidorm considered it appropriate to carry out a TOURISTIC STRATEGIC RESTRUCTURING AND OPTIMISATION OF RESOURCES (RETO) in order to increase the opportunities that allow them to attract more visitors or influence the type of visitor they want to attract, focusing on the strategic promotion of tourist flows with the aim of generating wealth and employment, or even regulating tourism to protect traditions, way of life and the environment.
