Benidorm, known in Europe as a party town, is much more. Kristina Pedder, visited Benidorm and found two sides of the same coin, one more alive (Levante) and a quieter (Poniente).
Isla de Benidorm
But the great attractions for divers are the island of Benidorm and the 300 meters high on the coast of the Sierra Helada Natural Park. Mal Pas beach, under the old town, and the rocky coves of Almadrava and Uncle Ximo, are the local snorkel spots.
From the port of Benidorm, the first diving area, La Llosa, can be reached in 20 minutes. Between rocky walls, songs and underwater ravines runs a plateau with a magnificent view and species such as spiny lobsters, sea bream, conger eels, moray eels, etc..
The second investment point is in Los Arcos, between walls and small caves. Place where in spring or early summer you can see eagle rays and moonfish, as well as barracudas or dark groupers.
Mitjana Island
To the south of the cliffs of the Sierra Helada Natural Park there are diving areas offering a wide variety of caves, walls and reefs. It is possible to circumnavigate the island in a single dive, but there is so much to see that you could easily take things slower.
It is full of life: there are yellows and oranges. Gorgonia, and large patches of yellow incrustations the sea anemones stand out on the lawn.
It is a place full of life where you have the opportunity to take some fantastic photos.
