Tio Ximo Snorkel Route

Cala del Tio Ximo: A Hidden Gem in Serra Gelada

The Cala del Tio Ximo can be accessed by following the same direction that leads us to Cala de Almadrava, but we continue left and, after a series of descending curves, we arrive at this small corner in the heart of Serra Gelada. 🏞️

Smaller than its neighboring Almadrava, Cala del Tio Ximo is also a discreet secret of bustling Benidorm and an excellent spot to explore with light gear. 🏖️

🌊 A Turquoise Paradise

The Cala del Tio Ximo faces SW and enjoys transparent waters with magnetic turquoise tones. The circular route leads us to follow the left wall. At first, we find an immaculate sandy beach that stands out like a white carpet. We can already spot fish like mabras searching through the sand, and others resting directly on their bed, like the pelaya. 🐟

🐠 Exploring the Seabed

The wall takes on a brown hue and is heavily covered with small algae that attract fish like the serrano, searching for tiny crustaceans. A rock outcrop leads to a new dip where hard ground alternates with cobblestones near the shore, alongside shining sand pathways. 🌟

We follow this inverted U, keeping the wall to our left, exploring some of its numerous gaps that might hide small fish like the blenny or a shy octopus. 🐙

🏝️ The Magic of the Seafloor

Further along, the coast becomes steeper, and the slope intensifies. This could be a great moment to cross over to the opposite wall by going across the cove. Along the way, it will feel like flying over a bed of changing colors, as the tones of the rock give way to the sand and the posidonia. Numerous patches of this plant form islands, often frequented by salpas. 🌱🐠

🪸 Returning to the Starting Point

Once again, the rock appears in the form of flat plates, which at some points seem like they've been cut by some mechanical tool. When we reach the other wall, we follow the rock and the twists it forms, while clouds of castanuelas accompany us throughout the journey. Gradually, the depth reduces, and we find ourselves back at the starting point after enjoying an excellent underwater journey in this beautiful cove of Benidorm. 🌞
