Buceo Diving in La Llosa: A Submarine Paradise in Benidorm

La Llosa is a submarine mountain with the peak at around -7 meters deep, located just a few hundreds of meters from the famous Benidorm Island, resembling the island in both shape and layout. On its eastern side, it has a steep drop to a depth of -30 meters, while on the western side, the depth increases more gradually and gently, forming a slope. The size of La Llosa and the abundance of marine life make it an ideal diving destination, with up to 3 mooring buoys for boat anchoring.

🐠 Discovering La Llosa

This time, we’re heading to the northernmost part of La Llosa, which descends to the platform at around -8 meters. If we continue heading northeast, we’ll encounter a deep drop, which, combined with the excellent visibility typically found here, will take us to a depth of -29 meters. Here begins a series of large rocks that create stunning backlighting effects and host a rich marine life, including large bream, dentex, schools of grouper, and wrasse, as well as large octopuses and morays hiding in countless crevices.

🏝️ Exploring the Massive Rocks and the Cave of the Virgin

The route, following the southern profile of La Llosa, consists of exploring these colossal rocks, some of which are pierced by tunnels, such as the famous Cave of the Virgin. When the air or the accumulation of nitrogen suggests it, we approach the wall of La Llosa, where we’ll find huge cracks that can serve as reference points for ascending while continuing to explore the area, now with colorful views of nudibranchs. Finally, we return to the starting point of the dive.
