Benimantell is located on the northern slopes of the Sierra de Aitana (the highest mountain range in the province of Alicante, at 1,558 metres). Its municipal area, which occupies both sides of the Guadalest valley, includes a large part of the Guadalest reservoir and extends along the southern slopes of the Sierra de Aitana.
The village is 547 metres above sea level and has a population of around 500. This altitude, together with its orientation and the shelter provided by the mountains that surround it, give this area a microclimate characterised by winters that are slightly colder than those on the coast, with occasional snowfalls, and summers that are mild and with average rainfall.
There are many springs, such as those of Molí, Arc, Pi and Salines.
Benimantell's traditional agricultural economy has been transformed into a tourist one due to the proximity of the famous village of El Castell de Guadalest (only 1 km away) and the undeniable attraction of the surrounding landscape, with its high mountains full of olive and almond trees arranged in terraces with old dry-stone walls.
The streets of Benimantell are steep and labyrinthine, with shady alleys that remind us of its medieval layout. The most outstanding building is the parish church of San Vicente Mártir, which stands out for its slender rectangular tower topped by an octagonal dome and crowned by an indigo roof.
