JJ Jones

Music runs in JJ Jones’ family, and when he was just 16 years old, he was part of a band that got a record deal with CBS. Since then he’s been playing in different bands in pubs, clubs, cruise ships, doing function work, performing at the Queen’s cousin’s birthday, and he was even part of the group Lulu & The Luvvers.

It was in the 90’s, when he decided to go solo and switch his genre to country-rock, when he started singing Neil Diamond songs, ending up with a 7 piece band performing a tribute to the artist in many different theatres in different parts of the world. JJ came to Benidorm just 10 years ago, because he was asked to come over to perform in a few hotels, and he finally got to settle down. He was then asked to join his two other shows, a tribute to The Eagles and a tribute to ELO, where he plays the guitar.

He believes that Benidorm has some very high-standard artists with great shows, and that it’s a great city because you can find great entertainment every night of the week. Even after so many years, JJ still gets goosebumps while playing Neil Diamond songs, and says it’s a pleasure for him to be able to do it. Although he has adapted his show to Benidorm’s audience after taking some advice from the actor Shane Richie, who told him that you have to give the audience what they want, and not limit the performance to what he wanted to play. However, he keeps it real by never including any cover songs in his performances, and always sticks to performing only Neil Diamond songs during his shows.
