Shaun Foster Conley

Shaun has been singing for as long as he can remember, and he recalls that he’s followed the steps of his father, a performer himself playing in the band The Apaches. Shaun first wanted to be a singer when he was 9 years old, and used to occasionally go up on stage with his dad, but when he grew a bit older he felt like he enjoyed playing football more than he did singing. But this didn’t last for long, because at 23 he had a change of heart and was encouraged by his dad to pursue a singing career, so he started putting on shows around clubs and pubs of the North-East where he would sing swing and famous songs at the time. He did this for 7 years and even made history by being named the North-East Male Vocalist of the Year three years in a row. Years later he was made an ambassador of his hometown Sunderland, together with Dave Stewart from Eurythmics, and Shaun recalls that this was one of the biggest highlights of his career.

He moved over to Benidorm when he was 30 and started out doing a mix of songs, but eventually started his tribute to Tom Jones and the audience loved it. Because of the success of the show, he started being recognised as 'The Boy from Nowhere', in reference to a song he would sing, and was asked by 'Benidorm' Series to appear on the programme. Even though he’s successful in the industry, Shaun lives by the idea that in the entertainment business you can be a star on stage but not off stage, so he always tries to be nice and grateful to everyone who watches his shows. Shaun admits that Benidorm has definitely got a grip of him, and even though he’s gone back to England a few times, he’s always ended up coming back to Benidorm.
