The analogue photography of the prestigious and renowned photographer Manuel Outumuro takes centre stage in the new exhibition at the Museu Boca del Calvari, titled 'Orography of the Pathway'. This exhibition opens its doors this Friday, the 24th, and comes to Benidorm under the auspices of the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage, curated by Imma Cortés from the Photographic Social Vision foundation.
"These contact sheets are an essential tool for precisely refining the selection of what has been captured with greater accuracy," explains the curator. They represent the necessary journey to find the definitive snapshot, the one eventually edited and chosen by the photographer. With the display of these contact sheets, "visitors to the exhibition can verify whether the photograph ultimately chosen by the author from that sequence is the same one they would have chosen."
The head of Historical and Cultural Heritage recalled "Outumuro's prolific and fruitful career, whose archive of over 10,000 negatives constitutes the best testimony to the evolution of fashion in recent decades and to the most well-known faces of Spanish cinema."
"It is a trajectory," she added, "filled with national and international recognition, including the 2022 Lucie Award, considered the Oscar of photography," and marked by constant collaborations with publications linked to the worlds of fashion and cinematography.
Starting today, Outumuro is supervising the setup of the exhibition, which will be open for visits until April 2nd. The official has invited citizens "to join us this Friday at 7:00 p.m. for the opening of the exhibition, as it is a unique opportunity to tour the exhibition alongside the artist himself."
