The XIV Team Group Convention brings together 230 travel agents in Benidorm.

Benidorm served as the venue for the sixteenth Team Group Convention this weekend, held at the Meliá Villaitana hotel, bringing together 230 travel agencies and entities from across the country, solidifying its position as a key annual event for the tourism sector.

The convention has focused on sustainability and innovation, highlighting Benidorm not only as a top global tourist destination but also as a pioneer in obtaining Smart Tourist Destination certification. With over 65 years dedicated to sustainable tourism, Benidorm serves as a model, demonstrating sustained and responsible growth.

During the event, impressive achievements of the city were highlighted, such as surpassing 15 million overnight stays in 2023, representing 3.10% of the national total and offering close to 90,000 tourist beds.

Regarding sustainability, it was emphasized that over 70% of journeys within the city are on foot, with over 130 km of bike lanes and cycling routes, in addition to having 60% of the land protected, underscoring Benidorm's commitment to the environment and urban quality of life.

Benidorm's efforts to reduce water consumption by 18% over the last 25 years, despite a 40% increase in the resident population and a 26% increase in tourist activity, reflect its focus on sustainability. The city uses reclaimed water for irrigation, demonstrating efficient management of natural resources.

Benidorm's Strategic Plan, established in 2015, integrates sustainability, innovation, technology, and accessibility as fundamental pillars, consolidating its position as a leader in smart and sustainable tourism.

Additionally, Benidorm's hospitality plays a crucial role, transforming the city from a population of 72,000 residents to hosting over 450,000 visitors during peak season, reflecting its ability to offer memorable experiences to millions of people each year.

The convention allows tourism operators present to become acquainted with the city for the subsequent promotion of Benidorm as a destination. Therefore, a series of activities were organized to experience firsthand the excellence and warmth of this leading tourist destination.
