Benidorm launches an innovative accessible tourist transport plan.

The Benidorm City Council has presented a pioneering accessible tourist transport plan to establish itself as an inclusive destination. This plan, previously previewed at Fitur 2024, was unveiled in the municipal assembly hall, where a hundred tourist establishments were also recognised for improving the accessibility of their facilities.

The event was attended by members of the municipal corporation, representatives from Impulsa Igualdad, and local entities from the tourism sector and those involved in caring for people with functional diversity. The plan, developed with Impulsa Igualdad, highlights Benidorm as a nationally inclusive destination, awarded at the 'Premios Fitur 4all'.

During the presentation, the collective effort behind these recognitions was emphasised, and thanks were extended to Impulsa Igualdad for their support. It was noted that the DTI has made Benidorm a benchmark for accessibility, with various works and improvements in the city to benefit people with disabilities.

New actions and a review of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan were also announced to continue improving accessibility. Representatives from Impulsa Igualdad praised Benidorm's commitment to accessibility and highlighted the loyal and active tourism of people with disabilities.

Additionally, it was explained that the plan covers all stages of the tourist journey, from information search to return, integrating previous projects from the City Council such as the EDUSI, the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, and other accessibility and tourism plans.

Among the awardees are the Benidorm City Council; the Levante, Poniente, and La Cala biblioplayas; the Casa Museo de l'Hort de Colón; the Benidorm Cultural Centre; the Tourist Bus; the Municipal Market; the El Castell viewpoint; the Museu Boca del Calvari; the parks of Elche, Foietes, and l’Aigüera; the Municipal Library; the Levante and Poniente beaches; the routes to Punta del Cavall and Torre Morales, and the Cruz de Benidorm and Serra Gelada; the Tossal de La Cala archaeological site; Benidorm's public toilets; and the Rincón de Loix Tourist Office and SATE.
