The Serra Gelada Accessible and Inclusive Route is a way to discover a unique environment that combines sea and mountains next to one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world, Benidorm.
We begin at Plaza del Castell and reach Punta del Cavall, where the cliffs will leave us speechless. Welcome to the audioguide of the accessible route through the Serra Gelada Natural Park! This route, approximately 7 kilometers long, combines the natural beauty of the park with the accessibility needed for all visitors.
Our journey begins at the historic Plaza del Castell, an iconic place in Benidorm. From here, you’ll enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the Mediterranean coast. Make sure to take in the view before starting your walk.
From Plaza del Castell, we head towards Levante Beach, known for its vibrant atmosphere and accessibility. The beach stretches for over 2 kilometers of golden sand and crystal-clear waters. This section is fully accessible, with wooden walkways that make it easy to access the beach.
Walking along the promenade is a vibrant experience, with restaurants, bars, and shops lining the path. Enjoy the lively atmosphere, and if you wish, take a break at one of the benches along the way.
At the end of Levante Beach, we enter the Serra Gelada Natural Park, known for its impressive geology and biodiversity. The accessible trail is well marked and has a surface suitable for wheelchairs and bicycles.
We continue towards the calas of Tio Ximo and Almadraba, two hidden gems on the coast of Benidorm. Cala Almadraba, with its peaceful atmosphere and crystal-clear waters, is perfect for those seeking a more secluded spot to relax. Next, we arrive at Cala Tio Ximo, known for its natural setting and rich marine life.
As we continue, the path gradually leads us to the cliffs of Sierra Gelada, one of the most breathtaking sections, offering panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea and the coast of Benidorm. The trail is designed to be accessible, with smooth and wide surfaces that allow for comfortable passage.
The route takes us to several viewpoints where you can appreciate the majesty of Benidorm and the vastness of the sea. The journey culminates at the cliffs of Sierra Gelada, a spot that will take your breath away with its natural beauty. Among the many treasures hidden in these cliffs are the impressive fossilized dunes, sand anchored to the cliff, embraced by it forever.
At the top of the cliffs, we find the watchtower of Punta del Cavall, a medieval defense tower declared a Cultural Heritage Asset.
Remember to keep the park clean, take your trash with you, and respect the local flora and fauna. This is a protected area, and we all need to care for it together.
